IDEA’s one-task devices are the essence of our modular technology performing several tasks such as
stirring/mixing, sensor integration, gas/liquid handling, pumping, light control for photo-bioreactors, temperature control. Our bioprocess systems can be configured to study several in-vitro models of the Human and Animal Digestion tracts:
- IdeaCGI - in-vitro Complete Gastro-Intestinal simulator: it is a DYNAMIC custom simulator based on sequential bioreactors: 2 (gastro-intestinal digestion + colon fermentation), 3 (gastric chamber + small intestine + colon) or 5 compartments (gastric chamber + small intestine + 3 regions of the large intestine (ascending, transverse and descending colon)) with optional mucin-covered micro-carriers to simulate the mucosal microbial colonization.
- IdeaUGI - in-vitro Upper Gastro-Intestinal platform: it is an automatic platform to study the upper gastrointestinal digestion according to the standardized INFOGEST protocols:
- STATIC - a fully automated device that implements the standardized INFOGEST 2.0 protocol (Brodkorb et al., 2019);
- SEMI-DYNAMIC - a fully automated device that implements the standardized semi-dynamic INFOGEST protocol (Mulet-Cabero et al., 2020) with optional pH control during gastric and intestine steps.
- IdeaGUT - Hindgut/Colon fermetation simulator: it is a simulator of human/monogastric animal hindgut fermentation, where the gas production methodology is used; optional mucin-covered micro-carriers can be used to simulate the mucosal microbial colonization.
- IdeaRUMEN - in-vitro rumen simulator: it is a simulator of the rumen where the gas production methodology is used
