IdeaCGI - in-vitro Custom Gastro-Intestinal simulator

IdeaCGI is an in-vitro model of the human gastrointestinal tract that adopts sequential bioreactors completely controlled (pH, temperature, stirring, …) available in 2 compartments (gastro-intestinal digestion + colon fermentation), 3 compartments (gastric chamber + small intestine è colon) or 5 compartments (gastric chamber + small intestine + 3 regions of the large intestine (ascending, transverse and descending colon)) 

Optionally, mucin covered micro-carriers to simulate the mucosal microbial colonization can be integrated in the intestinal compartments.

IdeaCGI can be used for studying physicochemical, enzymatic and microbial parameters in the gastrointestinal tract (e.g. bioaccessibility of micro- & macronutrients, digestibility, lipid oxidation, survival of probiotics) and as a multi-compartmental dissolution apparatus to measure the dissolution rate of pharmaceutical solid dosage forms;
